Hwaseong fortress- New town in Joseon Dynasty.

One King of Joseon Dynasty (1392-1910) planed new town nearby 200 years ago. It was a Ideal city for him and citizens as there were many reasons to built the new town: for his parents, political pupose and the military pupose. In 1997, it was designated a Unesco World Heritage.

Digilog - Mixed use

One of my favorite korean book is 'Digilog = digital + analog'. One sentence of the book is 'Where are the start and end of the yellow in rainbow?'.

Marylebon High Street.

The one interesting things that I find in London are lots of 'mixed use' areas. There are no division of commercial zones and residential zones, which can motivate more vital local communities.

rhizome

When I was a university student, I tried to read 'a thousand plateaus', but gave up. I was not able to understand even though read Korean version. But I understood a little about the meaning of 'rhizome' and like it as it comes from biology. 'Bottom-up' plan is more close to 'rhizome' as it can keep identity or characteristic of each elements of urban.

Satuday Evening 14 may 2011 , Suwon , South Korea. 1st photo Suwon station / 2nd Suwon old city centre.

It just takes 15min by bus from 'suwon station' to 'old city centre'. A texi driver said ' After 9pm, the old city centre become 'Gost city'. Local governmant also try to re-vitalize the place and planed some project such as 'street design', however, there was no change. It is needed other solutions except phisical method.

'The Truman Show' (1998)

Usually there is a given area or zone in common urban project. However, there is no lines in real world.
